Comments from Rachel’s Seminars
Many thanks to Brigitte for all her hard work putting the Rachel
Sanders seminar together for AIM. It was a very full weekend with
lots of dogs getting an opportunity to work and receive suggestions
from Rachel.
I particularly enjoyed the puppy session and Dream will benefit from
everything that we learned. It was nice to have some new ways of
teaching things to add to our training. She already has a faster
release just from practicing the sit, treat, sit, break exercise.
And I will be much better with my toy play after Saturday afternoon.
That session was very well timed for us.
I was watching some of the folks who had their first seminar working
spots and thinking that Saturday morning before I arrived I was also
very apprehensive and nervous about Dream’s first working spot. But
when I arrived at the seminar I completely relaxed because I knew I
was in a roomful of supportive and wonderful people who had all been
through what I was going through (again), and would totally be behind
us. That is a great feeling and thank you all for proving me right.
I thought all the dogs and handlers did beautifully and each had some
really good learning moments where you could see things connect and
make sense for dog and handler. Very rewarding to watch.
I find seminars so amazing. You get a different perspective of you
and your dog, and that is always worthwhile. Then you have the choice
of whether it is something you want to incorporate into your training
or not, and that is very powerful. Sometimes it is something that
completely changes how you do things, and sometimes it is just to
learn what you don’t want to do. Either way, I’ve always thought that
if I can learn just one thing from a seminar that it is worth the
money. This weekend I learned more than just one thing.

To echo the sentiments of Glenda & Lorraine, thanks so much AIM and Brigitte for bringing Rachel to Winnipeg!
What a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of the best competitors and instructors around. I was really impressed with how much heart she put into working with each team, offering them individualized tips and training plans to suit their needs. I really learned a lot by watching her work with dogs of all different training levels and abilities, from “blank slate” puppies, to Masters level dogs. Thank you to all who chose to take a working spot!

I would like to add my thanks to Brigitte for her hard work as well, and for
taking such excellent care of Rachel. Brigitte’s husband, Brian also
deserves credit for making her stay very enjoyable – Rachel really enjoyed
sledding on Saturday night.
Wendy, thank you for allowing us the use of your facility. It was bright (I
love the ceiling), well lit and very comfortable and with all you have going
on there, I know you were busy.
Rachel worked very hard to give everyone something to take home with them.
I was impressed with her energy, patience and advice in many respects. I
came home with lots to think about and it was nice to sit and talk about the
questions I had at dinner.
It was especially nice to see some people out working dogs who normally don
t take the opportunity. We’ve all been there and know how it feels when
something doesn’t go as well as you would like and it can be very hard to
learn if all you are doing is stressing about problems. Having said that,
it’s also thrilling to finally get it right and understand something after
having problems with it.
Learning is what seminars are all about, if we knew it all we wouldn’t need
to attend them. When you are up there learning, so is everyone else. So,
thanks to all the participants for the learning that took place over the
weekend.

Glenda – you are so right about supportive and wonderful people!
Everyone was so great even though I was a nervous wreck and Rachel really helped us to work through a difficult problem with good ideas and a ton of patience – and I
especially liked her hip flask suggestion!

Kim & Ebony
Thank you to Brigitte and Ann for organizing and bringing in Rachael.
The seminar was very interesting, thought provoking and contained so
much information.
Ebony and I enjoyed our session on Toy Motivation and Play. OK Ebony
enjoyed it more than I did, my back was killing me after all of those
swooshes. But I did learn many valuable tips that will help with
Ebony and future pups.
I can’t believe that I took 8 pages of notes.
Each of the sessions had so much information, helpful suggestions and
ideas.
I especially liked that Rachael tailored the information to each
individual dog/handler team on the floor. It was so beneficial to
have personal instruction and suggestions.
A thank you to Wendy for hosting the seminar. The facility was
terrific, the food great, Wendy’s attentiveness to ensuring that all
supplies and equipment was made available, and her the warmth of the
building was most appreciated.
Rachael is definitely someone who would be great to have back at some
point in the future. She is just so knowledgeable, willing to work
with each person, very easy going and friendly, and all round
pleasant.
Thank you again, we really enjoyed our weekend.

Debbie, Nakita & Brita
I would like to re-iterate everyone elses comments. Thank you to both
Brigitte and Ann for organizing such a wonderful seminar.
I too have pages and pages of notes and lots of thought provoking
ideas to run/sort through. I especially liked Rachel’s patience in
answering questions, explaining ideas and the individualization that
each working participant received. Nakita and I especially enjoyed
the attention to detail and comments during the “contact” session.
I would also like to thank Wendy for hosting us in her warm training
barn. From the food, facility and the attention to detail, you did a
fantastic job of making us all feel welcome and accommodated.
Looking forward to the next seminar…

Yes I also would like to thank Brigitte and Ann for bringing in Rachel. She was very informative and worked wonderfully with each team and the whole audience too. She was understanding and gave alot to each dog and human handler. And having the modules on the different topics was nice, it allowed dogs of different levels and ages to participate and gave us useful info to work with our dogs and to take home with us too. We enjoyed our whole weekend, and too havepages of notes.
And thank you to Wendy to for the warm and comfortable use of your Area.
Overall a very enjoyable weekend with fellow dog people, a great learning experience.
